You're probably familiar with generative AI, which you can use to help write an email or create an image with just a prompt or two.
But what about agentic AI? Agentic AI refers to a type of artificial intelligence that can complete tasks with less human interaction (or prompting). Based on how an agentic AI tool has been programmed, or the boundaries programmer have given it, it can work to complete multi-step tasks.
TD, for example, uses agentic AI to help speed up personal mortgage applications, taking the approval process from an average of 15 minutes to an average of three.
What other opportunities can agentic AI help unlock at TD? That's what Rizwan Khalfan, EVP and Vice Chair, Strategic Growth, Innovation and Partnerships at TD, talks about on this episode of The Banking on AI Podcast.
Over his 25 years at TD, Khalfan has had a front row seat to the Bank's technology transformation from the evolution of the TD app to today's AI powered tools. Khalfan discusses how we're moving from an era of intelligence to an era of agency, and what that shift could mean for clients, colleagues, and communities.
Khalfan imagines a future where AI tools can help all Canadians improve their overall financial well-being. And for him, it can starts with getting comfortable with AI and improving AI adoption – and AI literacy – in Canada.
In an effort to move that work forward, Khalfan announced at a recent Toronto tech conference that TD would be committing up to $25 million over three years to help accelerate AI adoption in Canada and to help translate Canadian AI innovation into practical benefits for businesses, TD clients and communities. Layer 6, TD’s AI research and development centre, and Cohere, Canada’s leading enterprise AI company, will collaborate to look at how Canadian AI innovation can be applied within TD to improve productivity, strengthen decision-making, and create better experiences for clients.
The work will complement the Bank's efforts to improve AI literacy and responsible adoption in Canada through research, educational content and engagement with the broader AI and innovation sector.
In this podcast episode, Khalfan shares how anyone can start getting comfortable using AI and why banks and financial institutions can be leaders in responsible AI innovation – and adoption.
