TORONTO, Oct. 11 /CNW/ - WHAT: The Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) and TD Bank Financial Group (TDBFG) will announce the winner of the third annual TD Canadian Children's Literature Award for the most distinguished English-language book of the year at a ceremony in Toronto on October 15. The winning author will receive $20,000 - one of the largest prizes of its kind for children's literature in Canada. The remaining finalists will share a $10,000 award. The winners of the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children's Non-Fiction, Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award and the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People will also be announced. TD Canadian Children's Literature Award nominees and winner will be available for interviews following the ceremony. The TD Canadian Children's Literature French-language portion of the awards ceremony will take place in Montreal on October 25, 2007. The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award recognizes excellence in children's literature. This award is part of the 30th annual TD Canadian Children's Book Week, the country's largest literary festival celebrating children's books and the importance of reading. The 2007 TD Canadian Children's Book Week takes place November 17-24 and will see the distribution of nearly 500,000 books to Grade One students across Canada. The week will also include 30 English and French-language authors, illustrators and storytellers who will take part in a national tour, to promote the joys of reading and the importance of literacy.
