HAMILTON, ON, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - For the first time, TD Canada Trust is the title sponsor for the annual Ontario Medical Student Weekend (OMSW). On October 17th and 18th, over 800 medical students will be in Hamilton at McMaster University for the largest academic conference for medical students held in Ontario. Organized by second year Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine students, who will be starting their clerkship in November, the weekend conference is about developing essential leadership, communication, and clinical skills in the workshops; being inspired by an amazing lineup of speakers; and forging valuable connections with future colleagues and important organizations at social events and an Info Fair. "We're very excited to be sponsoring the OMSW for the first time. This weekend is put on by students for students, which is what makes it so special and relevant," said Su McVey, Vice President, Customer Segments and Strategy. "As an organization that supports a number of health causes, we are keen to help medical students attain the knowledge they need, whether it's about financing their education, running a practice or developing vital skills." "The contribution of TD Canada Trust to OMSW 2008 has been phenomenal. It is with the support of great partners such as TD that this conference is possible," said Patrick Darragh, OMSW 2008 Chair and Vice President External, McMaster Medical Student Executive. "OMSW greatly benefits attendees' careers by providing key educational and networking opportunities, and TD's presence helps us achieve this goal."
