- TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card Survey reveals travel behaviour of Canadians - TORONTO, Nov. 7 /CNW/ - During these uncertain economic conditions, Canadians are planning to travel this holiday season. In fact, according to the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card Survey, of Canadians with upcoming travel plans, 41% say that they will travel over the holidays. The top adjustment that travellers are making is to be flexible about their travel plans. Thirty-four per cent of travellers will be more flexible with their travel dates and 26% will be more flexible with their holiday destination. Only 6% of people who were planning on travelling will cancel their travel plans. "Our research shows that flexibility is key for Canadian travellers with half of Canadians booking their transportation ahead of time and then planning the rest of their trip once they arrive," says Stacie Pearson, Associate Vice President, TD Credit Cards. "With the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, travellers can book their travel accommodations, car rentals and even excursions any way they want; whether waiting for the best price or waiting until they arrive at their destination, the TD First Class card is that flexible." Canadians are also organized when it comes to travel planning. In fact, nearly 70% plan their trip ahead of time. Fifty-one per cent plan their travel at least a month ahead. Western Canadians and Ontarians are most likely to plan ahead (77% and 75%). Fifteen per cent of Canadians are extremely flexible when they travel, citing that they never stick to an itinerary. Not surprisingly, younger travellers (18-34) are a little more flexible with their travel plans than those 55 plus. Canadians are also flexible when it comes to paying for their travel. Of those who have upcoming travel plans, 19% say they will be using their reward points more to fund their holiday.
