REGINA, Feb. 5 /CNW/ - The RCMP Heritage Centre is pleased to announce its "Protect and Preserve" capital campaign has received a $110,000 gift from TD Bank Financial Group. The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds for the non-profit Heritage Centre's second phase of exhibits and enhancements. TD's donation will go towards the installation of several bilingual outdoor panels that will provide visitors with historical and modern information about the RCMP training program, the Centre's unique landscaping and environmental plan, the heritage of Depot and the Centre itself. "The RCMP Heritage Centre is using fun, interactive technology to educate visitors on the RCMP's remarkable history and its role in the development of our country. We're really proud to support this campaign," said Ron McInnis, Senior Vice President, TD Canada Trust. "The Protect and Preserve Campaign will promote an important part of Canada's history including the RCMP's role to police over 200 communities, serve as the country's federal police force and represent Canada internationally." The success of the $10 million private sector Protect and Preserve Campaign will further enhance the RCMP Heritage Centre through the development of 8,000 square feet of additional exhibits, outdoor interpretive, educational and public programming, and the completion of architectural elements all intended to maximize the RCMP Heritage Centre visitor experience. "Since the inception and construction of the Centre, TD Bank Financial Group has been a major supporter. We appreciate their commitment and belief in the Centre and cannot thank them enough for their additional support and generosity," said Cliff Baylak, President & CEO of the RCMP Heritage Centre. "This gift will be critical to expanding our outdoor interpretive elements and allowing visitors to learn more about the incredible heritage of the RCMP Academy." RCMP Heritage Centre Designed by world-renowned Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, the $40 million, 70,000 sq. ft.
