TORONTO, July 7 /CNW/ - IRIE Music Festival is pleased to announce TD Canada Trust is returning as title sponsor for the 2009 TD Canada Trust IRIE Music Festival, a unifying celebration of Toronto's diversity designed to promote a greater understanding between the many cultures and traditions of our world class city. "The IRIE Music Festival has become an integral part of the summer experience and we're excited to again be partnering with TD Canada Trust," said Phil Vassell, executive director, Toronto Urban Music Festival which produces the TD Canada Trust IRIE Music Festival. "It is precisely because of this kind of sponsorship support that we are able to deliver a culturally-diverse festival that is open and accessible to everyone." After attracting over 60,000 visitors to Queen's Park and Nathan Phillips Square in 2008, an even larger crowd is expected this year. "We're bringing together people from all walks of life, and what better way to spend a weekend than with great music, food, and entertainment in the comfort of your own city," said Marlon Reid, vice-president, TD Securities. "The IRIE Music Festival is quickly leaving a lasting impression as one of Toronto's top summer attractions and we're looking forward to celebrating." The five-day cultural extravaganza will feature a variety of activities including the inaugural IRIE Boat Cruise, IRIE Lunchtime Concert, IRIE Dance Party, Byron Lee's Dragonaires, IRIE Salsa Samba, IRIE Gospel and a performance by legendary group Fab5, who will perform their greatest hits and fan favourites. Gramps Morgan of acclaimed reggae group Morgan Heritage will be making his debut as a solo artist as the headliner for Sunday, August 2nd at Queen's Park.
