MONTREAL, July 8 /CNW/ - Today the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal is pleased to welcome TD as its new presenting sponsor. Fans from all over North America are celebrating the news as this partnership will allow the Festival to grow and pursue its continued development. Since 2004, TD Canada Trust has been a major festival partner and beginning in 2010 they will succeed General Motors as presenting sponsor and official presenter of the world's largest jazz festival. "We are so pleased that TD, a solid partner that we've been able to count on for many years, has become even more involved," said Alain Simard, president and founder of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. "TD's role as presenting sponsor will support the festival in its continued growth and development. The expansion of the event is even more important now for our community given current economic conditions." This is one of the largest sponsorships in Quebec, and TD's ongoing support will help the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal continue to promote local and international jazz musicians and offer hundreds of free outdoor concerts while generating tourism, growing culture and boosting the economy of the region. "This increased partnership is a win for both TD and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal as we are both striving for the same goal - to showcase Montreal's unique culture and its thriving music community to the world," says Bernard Dorval, Head of Group Strategy, TD Bank Financial Group. "We are thrilled by this opportunity - this event is important to the Montreal community and has been a source of pride for many businesses and residents in the area for many years." Festival International de Jazz de Montréal offers seasoned and aspiring musicians alike an opportunity to showcase their talents through concerts, workshops and various activities. "TD has been a strong supporter of Canada's music scene, including seven other leading jazz festivals and numerous music festivals across the country for over seven years," says Christine Marchildon, Senior Vice-President, Quebec Region, TD Canada Trust. "Our Montreal area employees are very excited that we'll be playing an even bigger role starting next year, bringing the world's biggest jazz festival to Montréalers and visitors from around the globe." The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal will be celebrating its 31st anniversary next year between July 1 - 11, 2010. TD and Music Canadians love music and, at TD, so do we. So we're proud to help bring the best in music to our communities and our customers through sponsorships including eight of Canada's foremost jazz festivals, and by supporting music programs like the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Piano Plus Foundation, and the TD Canada Trust Family Concerts at the National Arts Centre.
