TD Insurance Meloche Monnex champions the next generation of advancement professionals

VICTORIA, June 8 /CNW/ - While most university and college graduates have hung up their caps and gowns, three young professionals have chosen to stay on and dedicate their careers to the field of educational advancement. Maude N. Béland, Michael Duncan and Erica Lind were each awarded $25,000 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Fellowships last night at the Awards Gala culminating the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) annual conference.

The Fellowship recipients showed strong leadership and potential through their work in advancement, and will be paired with a host school for a year-long Fellowship, working hands-on in at least three areas of advancement including: alumni relations, fundraising and development, communications and student recruitment.

And the winners are... - Maude N. Béland - Université du Québec à Montréal - Michael Duncan - University of British Columbia - Erica Lind - University of Lethbridge - Fellowship alumna, Janina Ganton, received the 2010 CCAE Rising Star Award, demonstrating the lasting effect the Fellowships have on young professionals.

And the CCAE Friend of Education Award goes to... - Bill Brock, retired Deputy Chairman and former member of the Board of Directors at TD, received the CCAE Friend of Education Award for over 50 years of support and devotion to Canadian higher education, philanthropy and internationalism. Mr. Brock served both the University of Guelph and University of Western Ontario with distinction as a Board member and fundraising volunteer leader.

"The TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Fellowships infuse new talent into our ranks, and provide a meaningful year of diverse work experience in advancement," said Frank Lockington, President, CCAE. "These Fellowships have launched a number of successful careers across Canada, benefitting the Fellows and their schools."

Over the past 12 years, 36 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Fellowships have been awarded for a total of $900,000 in Fellowship funding. Of these 36 Fellows, 75 per cent are still working in educational advancement, a testament to the success of the program.
