TORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - TD Bank Financial Group is pleased to congratulate Susan McIsaac on her newly announced position as Chief Executive Officer of United Way Toronto.
"I'm excited to partner with Susan on our mutual goal of improving the communities in which we live and work," said Ed Clark, President and CEO, TD and Chair of the United Way Toronto Campaign for 2010. "Last year's record-breaking achievement of $110 million, despite a recession, proved that Torontonians are ready to make a difference in the communities of our great city."
Mr. Clark went on to recognize the successful tenure of outgoing CEO Frances Lankin. "Frances has made a huge and indelible mark on the United Way, and our city. Her leadership has been inspirational. Her contributions have been incredible. She has made a real difference to the lives of many people. We have all benefited from Frances' relentless commitment and generous spirit."
Despite 2009's challenging economic times, TD, its employees and retirees raised over $10 million as part of the Bank's annual TD United Way Employee Giving campaign. Every dollar contributed went directly to United Way and other charities, providing vital social services such as youth employment programs, food banks, and shelters in hundreds of communities across Canada.
"TD employees past and present are looking forward to lending their support to Susan and the entire United Way as she takes the reigns for this year's giving campaign," said Mr. Clark. "When it comes to helping those in need, we take great pride in knowing our donations are making a real impact and we look forward to another outstanding year."
Since 2002, TD has raised over $58 million for United Way and other charitable organizations across Canada as part of its annual fundraising campaign for employees and retirees.
