- Latest branch opening demonstrates growth and progress in the community and will make banking even more convenient for Burnaby residents, now and in the future

BURNABY, BC, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - TD's newest branch in Burnaby will not only make banking more convenient for residents in this growing community, it has also helped them take better care of the local environment. The new branch, located at 6710 Hastings Street at Sperling Avenue, opened with a one-day e-Recycling event so customers could safely dispose of hazardous e-waste for free.

"Burnaby is a vibrant and diverse community which has seen a lot of economic growth over the years, said Wendy Batchelor, Branch Manager. "We're keeping pace with that growth by bringing our longer, convenient hours and focus on customer service with our newest location. As part of sustainable and responsible growth, we are also making it easier for Burnaby residents to care for the environment by offering the community a convenient way to e-Recycle on our opening day."

B.C.'s third largest city continues to grow in both population and in economic development. TD chose to locate another branch in the city to provide more services to a growing community and sees this particular area as having future growth potential. During the grand opening, Burnaby residents were treated to a barbecue, refreshments, door prize draws, activities for the kids and photos with the new TD mascot.

TD also believes in working together with communities to maintain and improve the local environment. In this case, TD hosted an e-Recycling day to make it easier for residents to drop off unwanted computers, televisions and other electronic equipment to be safely disposed of or recycled. E-waste is becoming a huge part of the overall waste stream and communities across Canada are working to reduce and eventually eliminate e-waste from local landfills.

To further help the environment, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation will be making a contribution to Catching the Spirit Youth Society. The funding will allow the organization to further enhance an extensive community garden project at British Columbia Institute of Technology's Burnaby Campus.

The new TD Canada Trust location in Burnaby offers a full array of personal and small business products and services as well as three Financial Services Representatives and a Financial Planner. As part of TD Canada Trust's extended hours, branch hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, Monday through Wednesday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The new 4,800 square foot branch is wheelchair accessible and features one full-service Green Machine ATM which is available 24 hours a day.
