TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - TD Bank Group and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation today announced a donation of $20,000 to help Goderich after being hit by Ontario's most powerful tornado in years. The tornado caused extensive damage to the town known as a popular tourist destination with historical charm.

"This is a very difficult time for our community and customers affected by the destructive effects of the tornado," said Teresa Doney, Branch Manager, TD Canada Trust, Goderich. "We hope this donation will provide residents with some of the immediate emergency support they need and will help the town rebuild and restore its original beauty."

TD will work in tandem with the municipality to support emergency relief efforts and help replace and replant trees uprooted or damaged by the tornado.
