TORONTO, Sept. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - TD Bank Group (TD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Maidment to its Board of Directors. Ms. Maidment is a former Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of BMO Financial Group. Prior to that, Ms. Maidment held several executive positions with Clarica Life Insurance Company, including Chief Financial Officer. She currently serves on the boards of TransAlta Corporation, TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation, the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and the University of Waterloo.

Ms. Maidment was named among Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100 Lists from 2002 to 2007 and Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100 Hall of Fame in 2007, as well as Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in 2000. She was also named Canada's CFO of the Year for 2006 by Financial Executives International Canada.

"We're excited to add Karen to our Board of Directors," said Brian Levitt, Chairman of the Board, TD. "Her finance, operations and risk management experience in both the banking and insurance industries constitute a valuable addition to our board."

Ms. Maidment is a graduate of McMaster University and is a Chartered Accountant. She currently resides in Cambridge, Ontario.

The appointment of Ms. Maidment brings the total number of directors to 17.
