VANCOUVER, Oct. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - TD Bank Group is celebrating the opening of the new TD Environmental Trail at TELUS World of Science, which officially opened today in Vancouver.

The trail, located around the perimeter of TELUS World of Science, features environmental exhibits free to the public and an interactive scavenger hunt. It will embark Vancouverites on a sustainability journey, engaging them in environmental education and inspiring future leadership in the province, by addressing local issues in transportation, food, water and waste. The TD Environmental Trail was made possible by the support of TD, which donated $500,000 to build the trail and spread awareness around environmental sustainability in British Columbia.

"We are thrilled to support Science World with the TD Environmental Trail as it not only emphasizes our ongoing commitment to environmental initiatives, but also provides education to young Canadians," says Mauro Manzi, Senior Vice President of Pacific Region at TD Bank Group. "In an era where more and more children are disconnected from nature, TD recognizes the importance of making real investments in environmental education and outdoor learning."

Dedicated to science and technology leadership, Science World British Columbia has identified environmental sustainability and conservation as two key concerns for the organization going forward. Supporting the construction of the trail was a natural fit for TD, as it recognizes the importance of educating British Columbians in collective environmental responsibility.

"We have a profound commitment to hands-on science and education and through the creation of the TD Environmental Trail we can demonstrate our continuous dedication to inspire and engage children and their families through thought-provoking environmental initiatives," says Bryan Tisdall, President and CEO of Science World British Columbia. "We're grateful to TD for this generous donation and are excited by the potential of inspiring positive environmental action in young people."
