TORONTO (November 26, 2013) – Starting today, transferring money just got easier for TD customers. Using EasyWeb, TD’s online banking platform, customers can send money from their TD account to any bank account linked to an eligible Visa debit card, Visa credit card or reloadable Visa prepaid card to over 170 countries in more than 150 currencies. Whether it’s for family living abroad, a gift for a friend, or support for a student studying overseas, with the click of a mouse the money will be received within 48 hours and as quickly as 30 minutes.

“At TD, we continually identify new ways to offer comfortable banking to our customers in the form of convenience and choice and this new service will be especially convenient for new Canadians with families living abroad,” said Raymond Chun, Senior Vice President, TD Canada Trust. "Being the bank of choice for new Canadians, we heard our customers when they told us that they wanted more choice in how they send money internationally. That is why, together with Visa, we developed the new TD Money Transfer service as a convenient, easy, secure and low cost way to send money globally.”

Quick facts on the TD Money Transfer service:

  • Convenience – Customers can send up to $2,500 per day, from a TD chequing or savings account to a recipient’s bank account linked to a Visa debit card, Visa credit card or reloadable Visa prepaid card. It is convenient for the recipient too; there is no need to go to an agent location and pick up cash
  • Easy: Customers simply need the 16-digit Visa card number, name and address of the recipient they wish to send money to. No other complex banking information is required and the service is available 24/7/365 from TD’s online banking platform EasyWeb
  • Low Cost: Priced between $8.95 and $12.95 for international money transfers and $1.50 for transfers within Canada, TD Money Transfer is one of the most affordable money transfer options available today

“We are thrilled to be working with TD to bring Canadians a brand new option for domestic and international money transfer,” said Sue Whitney, Head of New Products, Visa Canada. “The ability to transfer funds directly to a Visa cardholder’s credit, debit or prepaid card offers convenience and choice for Canadians who need a secure way to send funds either overseas or at home.”

TD Canada Trust has a history of delivering superior convenience to its customers and has done this by leading its competition in the delivery of Saturday and Sunday banking, longer hours, and through its digital banking services, helping customers bank on their terms anytime, anywhere.
