Bringing total donation to $200,000, in addition to already announced customer relief efforts

CALGARY, May 5, 2016 /CNW/ - In addition to the $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross announced yesterday, TD is providing more ways for our customers and Canadians to help support the community and people of Fort McMurray in dealing with the ongoing wildfires.

To encourage Canadians to rally together to support our family, friends, colleagues and communities in Alberta, TD will match all donations made through TD Canada Trust by June 6, 2016 up to $100,000. TD will be accepting donations through our branches across the country and on EasyLine and EasyWeb, starting tomorrow, May 6, 2016.

A total donation of $200,000 is in addition to other efforts already announced to support our customers. The Fort McMurray TD Helps program is making emergency assistance available to our banking customers in need, including such options as deferrals on payments, relief on fees and providing flexible credit options where needed. TD is also working with business banking customers impacted by the fire to provide customized solutions to meet their needs.

TD Insurance has moved quickly to assist our insurance customers who have been affected by the fire. To provide additional support to Fort McMurray customers, deductibles for residential and auto claims will be waived, rental fees will be covered in cases where vehicles had to be left behind, and mass evacuation coverage for temporary accommodations and meals will be extended through the duration of the evacuation order. TDI is also providing on-the-ground assistance and advice at Northlands Reception Centre, 7515-118 Avenue N.W., Edmonton and will be providing similar support through its Mobile Response Unit beginning this afternoon at Bold Centre Reception Centre, #100 8702-91 Avenue, Lac LaBiche.
