Finances can be stressful. Whether you're developing a student budget, trying to understand the difference between fixed and variable rate mortgages, or planning for retirement, there's a lot to know about how to manage your money to best meet your needs.
To celebrate Financial Literacy Month, we gathered a few helpful resources to help you out.
Financial literacy for kids from TD
Learning about money from an early age is important. Financial literacy can be taught from a young age (as early as 3 years old!) and can help set your kids up for future success. That's because when you talk to children about money when they’re little — and continue to have conversations as they grow — you help them become financially literate adults. TD has lots of resources for parents who want to proactively educate their kids on finances designed around age and life events, like birthdays and pursuing post-secondary education.
CanadaVisa is a resource designed for newcomers to Canada. Once newcomers are settled in Canada, understanding how to navigate the banking system is vital. CanadaVisa.com is the online presence of the Cohen Immigration Law Firm, which is a leading source of information about immigrating to Canada. TD works with CanadaVisa to provide financial education and literacy resources. The CanadaVisa site offers financial literacy materials available in multiple languages that cover topics like banking basics and credit score essentials.
Moving to a different country can be overwhelming. To help ease this transition, TD has created a hub for people who are new to Canada to help them access educational resources about financial services available at TD. From the TD International Student Banking offer to other banking products aimed at newcomers, the hub is catered specifically towards educating new Canadians about the products and services TD offers.
As part of its sponsorship work of national charity ABC Life Literacy Canada (ABC Life), TD is the founding supporter of Money Matters — a free introductory financial literacy program offered by ABC Life across Canada to adult learners, newcomers to Canada, Indigenous Peoples, and people with diverse abilities. TD supports Money Matters through the TD Ready Commitment, the Bank's corporate citizenship platform. (See where we’re running the program.)
