Dog ATM Photo 2

Don’t worry, Rover and Rex don’t need to remember to bring their debit cards to use this ATM.

To show some love to the four-legged friends who often accompany customers on their banking excursions, TD is debuting a first-of-its-kind Automated Treat Machine (ATM) for dogs in Toronto—no PIN required.

The TD dog ATM is designed just for our furry companions, mimicking the human ATMs at TD branches. The key difference is that instead of distributing $20s and $50s, the TD dog ATM features a puppy paw mat with a motion detector that dispenses free dog biscuits into a brushed metal bowl, and a screen that features dog-centric content, such as images of canines.

First launched as a pilot at a Philadelphia location of TD Bank, American's Most Convenient Bank, the dog ATM will make its Canadian debut to the public in downtown Toronto inside the new TD Terrace building, located on Front Street West, later this summer.

On May 15, several dogs from Toronto Humane Society got to make a withdrawal – or is it "woof-drawal"? – from the new tasty treat dispenser at the TD Tech & Innovation Day conference, the Bank’s signature media event for select reporters to hear about unique innovation and technology initiatives at TD. As part of the pups' appearance, the Bank also made a $5,000 donation to support the work of Toronto Humane Society.

"Our Automated Treat Machine is just one example of how we're striving to elevate the customer experience and help differentiate our brand," said Tyrrell Schmidt, Chief Marketing Officer, TD Bank Group.

"We set out to demonstrate that TD is there for our customers, during everyday moments both big and small. Whether your four-legged friend is keeping you company on your errands, or is a service animal supporting you throughout your day, we want to show appreciation to the canine loved ones of our customers."
