CALGARY, June 18 /CNW/ - Ever imagine you'd see the words 'rock festival' and 'bank' in the same sentence? For the first time, Virgin Festival will be rockin' Calgary and Canada's most comfortable bank, TD Canada Trust, will be there to help pump up the volume at Fort Calgary on June 21 and 22. Another first for this year is the introduction of Green Spot - an area in the Festival dedicated to building environmental awareness. TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) is inviting music lovers to the TD Go Zone to access solar-powered computers, check out the biodiesel exhibit, charge their MP3 players and cameras at the solar-powered stations and find out how TD FEF, and the communities it supports, are making a difference for the environment. "Sponsoring Virgin Festival Calgary is a great way for us to reach out to young Albertans, especially about our focus on the environment through TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. We're looking forward to exciting music, but also to having great conversations in the TD Go Zone about the environment and the future of Green," said Tim Hockey, Group Head, Canadian Banking and President and CEO, TD Canada Trust. So we're proud to be part of bringing the best in music to our communities and our customers through sponsorships that include eight of Canada's foremost jazz festivals, Canadian Idol and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and by supporting important and exciting music programs like the National Youth Orchestra, Piano Plus and the TD Canada Trust Family Concerts. With all the things we're already doing with music, sponsoring Virgin's Mobile Music Festivals in Canada just feels, well, comfortable. About Virgin Festival Canada Virgin Festival Canada has established itself as one of the top rock festivals in North America. Since the first-ever Canadian Virgin Festival launched in Toronto in September 2006, around 100,000 music lovers have lived the Virgin Festival experience. This year Virgin Festival will rock two Canadian cities - Calgary and Toronto. For more information on the festivals visit About TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) Since 1990, TD FEF has provided $45 million in funding to over 17,000 grassroots environment and wildlife projects across Canada. In 2007, FEF provided $3 million in support of 830 projects. Thousands of TD customers and employees donate to TD FEF on a monthly basis and TD Bank Financial Group contributes in excess of $1 million annually. TD also covers the management costs of running TD FEF; this ensures 100 percent of every dollar donated goes directly to funding environment and wildlife projects in the community where the donation was made.
