EDMONTON, Dec. 6, 2011 /CNW/ - For the 17th consecutive year, TD is asking Edmontonians to support the Stollery Children's Hospital through the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for 14 children's hospitals across Canada. TD will help make miracles happen this December by matching donations, up to $1 million, to support your community's local Children's Miracle Network member hospital.
To launch this year's initiative, on December 8, 2011, five-year-old Stollery patient Malaieja and mom Kristine Mastelero, will be in the TD Canada Trust Branch, at 5015-111 Street to break a large piggy bank to encourage Edmontonians to donate on December 9th and throughout the year. Funds raised will support Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.
Malaieja received a heart transplant in July 2010, and is enjoying the
outdoors having been in hospital for more than a year prior to her
transplant. She is also enjoying the taste of food and many new foods
as she was tube fed during this time. The specialists at the Stollery
have given Malaieja the life of a typical five-year-old and she's
taking full advantage.
