New branch will serve local community and international visitors to the Rocky Mountains

CANMORE, AB, Sept. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - TD Canada Trust celebrated today, the grand opening of their new branch in Canmore with a $5,000 donation to local organization, Bow Valley WildSmart, courtesy of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. The organization develops proactive conservation strategies to reduce negative human - wildlife interactions through education and outreach programs that increase public safety and enjoyment, as well as contribute towards sustainable wildlife populations.

"In the winter we hold the How WildSmart are you? Speaker's Series to inform residents of recent wildlife research and issues. This is an incredible opportunity to engage our community in learning about the many challenges we face to coexist with wildlife," says Kim Titchener, Program Director, WildSmart. "Thank you to the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation for helping us to instill a love of nature and desire to protect it in the Bow Valley."

WildSmart was established in 2005 by a coalition of local interest groups including businesses, environmental groups, and public, municipal and provincial government agencies. Programs address issues of human-wildlife conflict, endangered species and habitat loss.

"TD is honoured to be a part of the unique communities of Canmore and Banff," said Monique Bateman, Senior Vice President, Prairie Region, TD Canada Trust. "We know how important environmental and wildlife preservation is to residents here, so we're pleased to support Bow Valley WildSmart, a leader in this field, as part of our grand opening celebration."
