TD community branches offer financial education, fraud awareness, career support and trusted guidance along with traditional banking services to help community members feel more confident managing money and planning for the future.

Key Points

    • The eight TD community branches are designed to build trust, strengthen community connections and help residents feel supported in their financial lives.
    • TD colleagues use personal guidance and local relationships to help residents increase their financial knowledge and gain confidence as they work toward financial goals.
    • At the TD Nubian Square community branch in Boston, financial education workshops with organizations including local police, help residents recognize fraud and strengthen their financial knowledge.
    • TD’s Juniata community branch in Philadelphia combines one-on-one banking guidance with nonprofit programs that support career development and financial goals.

A trip to the bank once centered on making deposits and other routine transactions. As more banking moves online, physical locations are taking on a broader role as places where people can connect, find support and even strengthen their communities.

TD is bringing that idea to life across its footprint, especially at its eight community branches. Located in underserved neighborhoods with limited access to physical banks, these branches offer traditional banking services along with dedicated spaces to welcome residents for financial education workshops and other programs led by local organizations designed to expand their neighbors’ financial knowledge and grow confidence.

"I've seen firsthand in my own community how access to trusted guidance and financial education can open doors for families," said Laura Nitti, Retail Market President for Metro Pennsylvania and South Jersey, TD Bank U.S. " That's why we're proud to work alongside local organizations to create spaces where people can build relationships, strengthen their financial knowledge and feel more confident about their financial future."

It’s a mission that colleagues at these community branches fully embrace.

"We want you to feel at home,” said Evenflow Guillomaitre, Branch Manager of Nubian Square in Boston, TD Bank U.S.  “It’s about your finances, your future and the future of your children and grandchildren. If we say we’re a bank in the community, we must be present and live up to that promise.”

How TD is building trust beyond banking

Evenflow sought the branch manager role in Nubian Square because it felt like a homecoming as he had lived nearby and bought his first house in Roxbury, an adjoining neighborhood.

The Nubian Square location reinforces that neighborhood connection through murals and artwork by 12 local young artists. The paintings and drawings feature local landmarks and help residents see their community reflected in the branch.

"Seeing familiar places and artwork created by youth from the neighborhood helps people know that this space belongs to their community, which helps build trust," Evenflow said.

“We look beyond each transaction to understand clients and build relationships with the organizations and businesses they support,” Evenflow said.

Colleagues teach credit building, responsible banking and saving. The work is personal for Evenflow, who spent years rebuilding his credit after college and now offers residents the guidance he once lacked. He also mentors individuals reentering their communities after incarceration as they navigate everyday financial systems.

The Nubian Square team leads or hosts three to five monthly workshops on money management and fraud prevention for schools, nonprofits, churches, young people and older adults. Evenflow has also developed a growing partnership with the Boston Police Department. TD and police have teamed up to host fraud-prevention events for community residents.

“Community events and financial education bring police officers and residents together,” Evenflow said. “By inviting TD to their initiatives, police help sustain the partnership.”

TD also hosted events specifically for police officers to help them learn financial terminology and other topics to include in their police reports. Additionally, the bank held a financial-awareness workshop for 25 police cadets.

In October 2025, TD and Boston Celtics Community CREW hosted a reading event at Frugal Bookstore with students from five local middle and high schools. Evenflow coordinated with school leaders and police, who provided three buses to transport children from five middle and high schools.

Students met Lucky the Leprechaun, the Celtics’ mascot, joined the reading and received giveaways and autographs. Principals later said the experience brought the children tremendous joy.

“What I value most is building relationships and providing guidance that can improve people’s lives,” Evenflow said.

How the Juniata community branch is helping residents build financial confidence

Visitors to the TD community branch in the Juniata neighborhood of Philadelphia may come for banking help but leave with practical guidance and stronger neighborhood connections. Since opening in 2024, the Juniata branch has hosted nearly 20 community events.

Branch Manager Carlos Rodriguez has led the location since it opened.

“Helping people learn how to move forward financially has been awesome,” Carlos said.

Strong nonprofit relationships also help community branches serve their neighborhoods.

Hopeworks, a nonprofit with locations in Philadelphia and Camden and Newark, New Jersey, helps young adults build technology and job-readiness skills. TD works closely with Hopeworks, providing funding and volunteers to support these efforts, and has hosted Hopeworks participants at the Juniata branch, including a panel where TD colleagues shared career experiences and advice.

Riscee Langhorne, Director of Workforce Solutions at Hopeworks, said community spaces like the one at the Juniata location help organizations reach people where they live and build their futures.

“They want to work here, live here and see opportunities grow here, so they don’t have to leave their community to build a career or support their families,” Riscee said.

For Tommy Berner, Community Business Development Officer, TD Bank U.S., volunteering with Hopeworks is especially meaningful. An early TD manager showed him how his hospitality education could lead to a career in banking.  Years later, Tommy shared those lessons with the youth participants.

“It’s really a chance to pay it forward,” he said.

How the Juniata community branch provides financial guidance

Carlos shares with residents the same practical financial lessons he has taught his family: how to save, spend thoughtfully and manage money responsibly. After more than two decades in banking, he considers clients a second family and views the branch as a second home.

Branch colleagues educate people about the reasons behind financial decisions and connect them with trusted local nonprofits. Fraud-prevention sessions help clients of all ages recognize scams, protect their information and respond with confidence.

The team also guides aspiring homeowners and entrepreneurs on building credit, organizing mortgage documents and separating personal and business finances.

For Carlos, that is what makes the Juniata community branch different.

"Whether someone is learning how to protect themselves from fraud, preparing to build credit or looking for a path toward a new career, the branch is designed to meet people where they are and help them move forward with more confidence," he said.
