Annual TD Canada Trust Festival of South Asia takes place August 23-24 TORONTO, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - The TD Canada Trust Festival of South Asia creates a window into the East to celebrate and experience the culture and cuisine of South Asia. From Bhangra to Basmati to Bollywood music, this event has all the ingredients to make festival visitors feel like they've traveled the world. The festival takes place August 23-24 in Toronto along Gerrard Street East between Greenwood and Coxwell Avenue from 2:00-11:00 p.m. "TD Canada Trust is proud to celebrate South Asian culture with our customers and employees in all their diversity," says Suellen Wiles, Senior Vice President TD Canada Trust GTA Region. "This is a great way to experience the tastes, sights and sounds of South Asia and we're delighted to once again present this wonderful festival to the people of Toronto." The entertainment line-up promises to be a showstopper. The main stage will feature dancing, the Gerrard India Bazaar Fashion Show and authentic South Asian music reflecting Indian, Pakistani, Bengali and Sri Lankan cultures. Off-stage, visitors will be enticed by the wonderful foods offered by up to 20 different restaurants and priced from one to six dollars. There will also be free food sampling presented by Deep Foods, Knorr and Brooke Bond brands. The Tiger Beer Garden will allow visitors to enjoy Asian beer and will offer a space to relax during the festivities. Not sure what to do with the kids? Not to worry, there will be plenty of children's entertainment. To top it all off, Jet Airways will be raffling off a prize of two airline tickets to India. The Gerrard India Bazaar is a major component of the festival and is the largest South Asian bazaar in North America.
