VANCOUVER, June 3 /CNW/ - His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward Earl of Wessex, will be presenting 36 students from Vancouver Technical Secondary School (VTSS) with gold awards for their achievements pursuing The Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme. The programme encourages young people aged 14-25 to reach personally-established goals in four areas: community service, skills development, physical recreation and adventurous journey. All 36 VTSS students receiving gold awards are a part of the TD Waterhouse Investing in Youth Initiative that helps raise awareness of the programme and ensures youth at risk and youth with disabilities have the opportunity to participate. Since its debut five years ago, TD Waterhouse has pledged over $700,000 to bring the Investing in Youth Initiative to nine Canadian cities resulting in a dramatic increase in the number of youth taking part and succeeding in the programme.
