ST. JOHN'S, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - TD Bank Financial Group is donating $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support residents affected by Hurricane Igor in Newfoundland.

"This is a challenging time for many of our employees, customers and community members affected by the destruction left by Hurricane Igor. We're pitching in to help out however we can," said Tom Wheeler, TD Canada Trust's district vice president for Newfoundland & Labrador. "Hurricane Igor hasn't damaged the strength and resiliency of the community and, by working together, we'll get through this."

TD is directing its donation to help the Canadian Red Cross acquire and distribute supplies to area residents still grappling with the after effects of Hurricane Igor. Many communities in the province are still under a state of emergency and are without clean water or power.
