Unprecedented results achieved for national TD United Way Employee Giving Campaign - up 44 per cent year-over-year
TORONTO, Jan. 18 /CNW/ - Charitable giving across the country may be down, but TD Bank Group employees have proven otherwise, showing that fundraising records are made to be broken.
Today, TD proudly announced that employees and retirees from across Canada raised $10.1 million in support of its annual 2010 TD United Way Employee Giving Campaign. When you add in TD's corporate donations of $3.4 million, TD is donating a record-breaking total of $13.5 million to support communities across the country. This year's employee campaign, which ran from November 15 to December 3, resulted in a 44 per cent increase in funds raised from last year, making it TD's largest donation ever.
"There are no words to describe just how proud I am of TD's campaign results," said Ed Clark, Group President and CEO of TD Bank Group, who also served as Chairman for United Way Toronto's 2010 Cabinet. "TD employees have always given generously to the communities where we live and work and this year they went above and beyond to raise funds for those who are less fortunate."
Every dollar raised goes directly to United Way and other registered charities in Canada to support important programs such as food banks, shelters and other vital social service initiatives in hundreds of communities.
"Many people continue to grapple with lingering problems from the economic downturn, and community organizations are experiencing an increased demand from those in need," said Clark. "TD employees have a strong track record of giving back to help build stronger communities. Our commitment has never been more evident, or more needed, than during the financial crisis. Since 2007, TD employees have doubled their contribution, with our 2010 total employee donation amount being twice what it was in 2007."
Ed Clark will join Susan McIsaac, President and CEO of United Way Toronto, this Thursday, January 20 at a celebration dinner where United Way Toronto will officially unveil results of their city-wide campaign.
Since 2000, TD has raised more than $74 million for United Way and other charitable organizations across Canada as part of its annual fundraising campaign for employees and retirees.
