How Twin Brothers from Buffalo Built the First Black-Owned Barbershop Franchise in the U.S.

Damian Johnson and his twin brother, Jermaine, are the embodiment of the American Dream – they started out cutting each other's hair in their kitchen as young boys in Buffalo, New York, to founding No Grease!, a multi-million-dollar company and the first Black-owned franchise barbershop in the country.

Unexpectedly Canine – Customers Can't Keep Their Paws off TD Bank's One of a Kind Dog ATM

TD Bank unveiled the first-of-its-kind Automated Treat Machine (ATM) at its South Broad location in Philadelphia.

To celebrate the ATM, the bank invited Philly PAWS to host an adoption event in April and had a good dog-gone time in the process.

The patent-pending ATM is two years (or 14 doggy years) in the making at TD, launching in January 2024. It works via a motion detector for free treat dispensing and includes its own dog-centric content that speaks directly to our canine friends. However, our furry customers weren't the only ones getting some tasty goodies at the event as TD, known for its commitment to supporting local small businesses, enlisted Tiny's Tasty Treats to bake 300 special TD cookies so that the humans could also enjoy some snacks.

From One Generation to the Next: Empowering Black Families to Build Wealth and Prosperity

Generational wealth can provide your family with a strong financial foundation – and the security, freedom and opportunity that come with it – well into the future.

Building that financial legacy may feel daunting for those juggling financial demands today. The goal may seem especially daunting for Black families who, on average, have lower net worth than that of white households. Long-standing racial inequities contribute to this wealth gap, which includes historically lower wages and a disparity in inheritance. White households are far more likely to inherit family assets with higher economic value, and to receive significantly larger bequests, than Black families.

Here are talking points from Parris Hall, Head of Wealth Banking Solutions at TD Wealth® on how to start your wealth-building journey.

How to Talk to Your Kids About Money: Are You Smarter Than a 5-Year-Old?

You know the old saying that parents have eyes in the back of their heads?

Well, they aren't the only ones doing the watching. Many parents will tell you that they're often shocked at how much young children pick up these days.

Through the use of electronic devices, watching their parents and learning at school, kids truly are like little sponges.

It's the same when it comes to how children learn how adults earn, spend, and make decisions about money.

Why is Multi-Generational Home Buying on the Rise? And What Are the Benefits of Buying with Family?

What is multi-generational home buying and why the increase in the past few years?

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) stated in a recent report that this type of homebuying serves several purposes, including the ability for younger generations to care for their elders, to get a home that may have been financially out of reach or even just to be closer to family and enjoy the time they have together.

With housing prices having jumped during the peak of COVID-19, it's not surprising that younger professionals are teaming up with their parents or even grandparents to make the dream of owning a home a reality.
