"Know yourself."

"Surround yourself with people who will lift you up."

"There's an advantage to being 'the only' … because when you open up your mouth, they will listen."

That's just a sampling of the advice that three TD leaders had for aspiring generations of technology talent ahead of the 2021 BFUTR conference – the world's largest virtual meeting of Black technology professionals.

The annual event, which is hosted by the Professionals in Technology Network (BPTN), and is sponsored by TD, takes place each year to support the advancement of Black professionals in an industry sorely lacking diversity.

This year the event is taking place on October 28 and 29. More than 20,000 tech and business professionals are expected to participate across 60 workshops, with more than 1,000 industry speakers. Regardless of what sessions participants choose to attend, each workshop is designed to help them develop their skills and expand their career network.

In the following video, we hear from TD colleagues Kay-Ann Evans, Senior Managing Engineer, Private Cloud Service Owner; Melissa Grant, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition; and Nkechi Nwafor-Robinson, AVP, Technology Solutions – who are all speaking at the event – on their thoughts about how future generations of technology professionals can advance their careers.

Tickets are free for Black tech professionals who are looking to attend the conference. To learn more about the conference, visit BPTN.com.
