Rain, snow, sleet, or hail — nothing could dampen the spirits of those who gathered at New York City's Gotham Hall on March 22 to celebrate the accomplishments of women in technology and to cheer on TD Bank's Janice Withers, who was one of two women named CIO of the Year at the Women in IT Awards USA.
Hosted by Information Age, the U.K.'s leading business technology brand, the awards highlight the achievements of women in technology. Additionally, they showcase role models in a sector in which women are underrepresented. This is the first year the awards were held in the U.S.
U.S. nominees spanned multiple industries, with over 400 total nominees representing popular brands like eBay, T-Mobile, and Microsoft. Sixteen awards were presented to celebrate outstanding leadership in areas such as innovation, security, data, and advocacy.
The CIO of the Year award recognizes a female chief information officer who has demonstrated innovation, IT excellence, and leadership. Janice was recognized for her leadership in standardizing, rationalizing, and modernizing TD Bank's technology infrastructure; delivery excellence; and commitment to employee development and promoting opportunities for women in technology.
"It's an absolute honor to be recognized alongside so many outstanding women who are making significant contributions to our field," said Janice. "This is not an award earned by one person — it represents the hard work and collective effort of a diverse TD Bank Technology team that's committed to being a trusted business partner that delivers innovative, rapid, and differentiated technology capabilities."
CEO Greg Braca echoed Janice's sentiments. "As we build the Bank of the future, Janice is leading a significant effort to transform business capabilities and drive meaningful, innovative change across our organization," he said. "This is a terrific honor for her, our Technology colleagues, and for the entire TD Bank team."
