The fiftieth anniversary of a pivotal moment in LGBTQ history serves as inspiration for Love & Resistance: Stonewall 50, an exhibition at New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building which opened on Thursday, February 14.
The TD Charitable Foundation and TD Bank are among the major supporters of this exhibit, which runs through July 14, 2019. It is being held as part of the 2019 World Pride in New York City, which TD Charitable Foundation and TD Bank are sponsoring.
This free exhibit commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Riots in downtown Manhattan, which sparked the modern Gay Liberation movement. It showcases the massive transformations in LGBTQ culture from 1965-1975 through photos, posters, flyers and historical documents.
"TD Bank has a long standing commitment to the LGBTQ community so celebrating the
50th anniversary of Stonewall is truly significant to us," said Kelley Cornish, Global Head of
Diversity and Inclusion, TD Bank Group. "This exhibition touches on everything from social justice issues, to love and redemption and we are truly honored to support such monumental and impactful work."
