A crowd of about 250 people came together to celebrate the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey
A joyful crowd of about 250 people came together on June 7 to celebrate the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey at TD University in Mount Laurel., NJ. This event capped TD's Special Olympics fundraising campaign, which raised more than $1 million this year, and a total of more than $11 million for the past 11 years.
"The Special Olympics Torch Run and TD Bank-sponsored ceremony was like none other," said John Pluhowski, Chief Communications Officer and Advice Council Chair, Individuals with Diverse Abilities. "Attendees from schools, local municipalities including social services organizations, Project SEARCH, and law enforcement were captivated by the intimacy of the experience and celebratory recognition bestowed upon our Special Olympians."
The event featured speeches by TD officials, a customer affiliated with Special Olympics and Vanessa Glenn, the mother of torch bearer John Glenn. The crowd heartily cheered for him as he held the torch.
"A special moment frozen in time," said John Pluhowksi. " It was amazing. And it was TD."
